The 2017 Aloxe-Corton Les Vercots 1er Cru comes from relatively young vines, half 12 years old and the other half debuting with their third leaf. There is a slight reduction on the nose, along with oaky red berry fruit (50% new wood) that will need time to be fully subsumed. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth texture and fine tannin, and the wood is simpatico with the fruit. I like the grip of this Les Vercots and the tang of orange peel and marmalade that complements the red fruit on the finish. Excellent.
